Duplex apartments in the center of Moscow are located in a historic red brick building of the late 19th century.
Such interiors are often designed in the loft style, however, this house has undergone a major renovation, and only the masonry of the exterior wall actually remains from the original. Therefore, we decided to move away from the traditional style for such rooms and be inspired by the Russian modernists of the beginning of the last century.
There are many functions concentrated in relatively small apartments, and in order not to overload the space with shapes and textures, we decided to make the interior monochrome and very delicately approached the choice of textures. It was important for us to get an atmospheric, but at the same time sustained, minimalistic picture.
Three main materials are used in the decoration: light beige porcelain stoneware, natural travertine and tinted oak. The combination of such similar-toned materials made the overall picture complete, but at the same time interesting and detailed.
The main part of the house is a two-light living room, which turned out to be bright, airy and restrained due to the fact that the main functions are concentrated.
